"Where would you be - without geography", Lurie's Education Program

We were so thrilled to donate our time and the Wander Our WorldTM program to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for the 2013-2014 school year.  Located in the Family Life Center, the Chicago Cubs Charity Classroom provided the space for our journeys to faraway lands.

Our first journey was to Tanzania where we learned about the Maasai culture, and the animals of the Serengeti.  We also taught the children how to count to 10 in Swahili, and taught them about Tingatinga art.

Our second stop took us to Australia where we showed the kids an authentic boomerang from renowned Aborigine, Laddie Timbery, a highly respected Koori elder from the Eora Nation.  We also passed around an Australian walking stick, a didgeridoo, and created our own Great Barrier Reef art.

Read about our travels with the children at Lurie Children’s Hospital in their December 2013 Newsletter, Scribbles, under the section “Where would you be – without geography?

Our experience bringing smiles to the faces of children at Lurie’s was nearly indescribable.  We would like to extend a special “thank you” to the School Services Staff for allowing us the opportunity to bring the Wander Our WorldTM program to your kids.  We look forward to seeing you again 2014!
